Raiders Fire Kiffin, Seriously. It’s Over. For Real, He’s Done.

Around The Interruption is TWWL’s afternoon update
(Veronica Ricci likes to swing, strip, and swing some more – The Beer Goggler)

Davis Fires Kiffin, Refuses To Pay Him
Al Davis really did it this time. After weeks of speculation that head coach Lane Kiffin would be fired it is officially done. Davis and the Raiders are saying that Kiffin was fired ‘with cause’ meaning that they will try not to pay him for what remains on his contract. (Yahoo)

Mandarich Admits Steroid Use
I never saw this one coming. In a million years I never would have imagined that Tony Mandarich used steroids. The NFL Draft bust admitted in an interview for ‘Inside The NFL’ on Showtime that he took steroids and faked a drug test before the 1988 Rose Bowl. Well, slap my ass and call me Susie! I am shocked. I wonder if steroids make you a good photographer.(SI)

Najeh ‘Dookie’ Davenport Back with Pittsburgh
With injuries to Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall the Steelers have given Najeh Davenport another chance. Davenport is sometimes known as ‘Deuce’ or ‘Dookie’. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

Mendenhall done for year, Willingham still not winning and Pat Hill defames the stand-alone moustache

(Pat Hill…you give the stand-alone moustache a bad name. How dare you…)

QUITE FRANKLIER is TWWL’s mid-day breakdown.

A win doesn’t usually cost this much: The Steelers might have beaten the Ravens last night on Monday Night Football, but to lose both a starting lineman and rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall could be devastating. Willie Parker is already hurt…and yeah, third-stringer Mewelde Moore looked okay last night, but over the long haul? There might be more terrible in Pittsburgh than the fans can swing a towel at.

Tyrone Willingham might just want to find a new career. After a blatent case of not being white enough at Notre Dame, Willingham has struggled to turn the Washington Huskies program back into a winning one. He had the quarterback in Jake Locker…at least he did. Locker is out 6-8 weeks with a broken thumb….meanwhile the team is 0-4. It’s so dire in Huskie land that Willingham has said that Locker could be back…at a different position…if it means getting him back on the field sooner. Yikes.

Karma is a bitch, isn’t it Pat Hill? The Fresno State football head coach is helping fight the fact that no teenager in Fresno is allowed to wear Bulldog gear to school because the logo was pirated by a gang 20 years ago. The irony here, of course, is that Pat Hill is a boorish, over-the-top thug himself and has no business defaming a stand-alone moustache. Serves him right for having to deal with something no other college in America deals with. Hell, would it really surprise anyone if two of his starting defensive backs came from the gang that stole the logo? At least you know they’d be loyal to the program…

Steelers Win in OT

Luke Warm Pizza is TWWL’s morning headlines
(OMG! Is that not the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen? A ceramic pink dog with white polka dots. If Alessandra Ambrosio would get out of the way we’d have a better look at it. My Chill Pill)

Steelers 23 Ravens 20 OT Jeff Reed kicked a 46 yard FG in OT to get Pittsburgh the win. Let’s all have a steak salad. The Steelers looked awful for 2.5 quarters then scored twice in :15 when Ben Roethlisberger hit Santonio Holmes for a 38 yard TD. On Baltimore’s next play LaMarr Woodley returned Joe Flacco’s fumble for a 7 yard TD. Give Flacco credit, he took his team down field in the final minutes to score a TD that forced OT. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

Drunk Giant Walking
Giants RB, and former Georgia Bulldog, Danny Ware was arrested for drunk walking in Athens Saturday night. Ouch, a loss to Alabama and logos on your cheeks make a for a nice mug shot.

Just Do It
Everyone wants to be the one who got it right. John Clayton of ESPN is reporting that Al Davis is in the process of firing Lane Kiffin. Hasn’t this been going on for a month? Has he not been in ‘the process of firing Kiffin’ for a month? Just fire, baby. (ESPN)

Springsteen To Play SuperBowl

Around The Interruption is TWWL’s afternoon update
(Marisa Miller has a 2009 calendar too more at The Beer Goggler)

Boss is SuperBowl Halftime Show
Just like we told you back on August 11th Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will play SuperBowl XLIII halftime. (ESPN)

Shocking News: T.O. Complains
Attention starved screaming jackass Terrell Owens is complaining that he didn’t get the ball enough in the Cowboys loss to the Redskins. You knew it was only a matter of time. All it took was one loss and T.O. starts shooting his mouth off. Remember when the Cowboys were everybody’s darlin pick for the SuperBowl? They’ll be lucky to get a WildCard. It’s only a matter of time before the Jessica Simpson insults being to fly. Word of warning T.O. you’d better not start any trouble with Pacman Jones. Pacman will shoot your ass.

Jags Collier Has Leg Amputated
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier, who was shot earlier this month, is paralyzed below the waist and has had his left leg amputated, his doctors said Monday. (SI)

Torii Hunter says baseball is clean, the Big 12 rocks and Shawn Kemp pulls out early

(Nikki Giavasis: one of Shawn Kemp’s many babies’ mommas…)

QUITE FRANKLIER is TWWL’s mid-day breakdown.

The news shouldn’t be shocking exactly, and it doesn’t appear to be. However, the fact that one of MLB’s stars is finally saying what the fans have been saying for the past few years is kinda nice. Torii Hunter gave his thoughts on why this year posted the lowest homerun-per-game average baseball has seen since the early 1990s. I bet you can guess why…

To all of you elitist fools who suck on the Southeastern Conference teet and tout it as the far-and-away best college football conference: suck it. The latest Associated Press poll is out, and features three Big 12 teams in the top five – including Oklahoma at No. 1. Missouri is four and Texas five, with Alabama (inexplicably moving from 8 to 2. Granted, they beat the UGA poop out of the ‘Dawgs, but six spots????) and LSU sandwhiched in the middle of OU and Missouri. The Big 12, with its slew of quarterbacks, high-powered offenses, quirky coaches and athletes galore, is the place to be these days for college football.

Former NBA All-star and baby-maker deluxe Shawn Kemp’s attempt at a comeback is over. Kemp, 38, was trying to resurrect a career that had been dead as long as Al Davis. He went home to Houston and never came back, so the Italian team cut him…before he ever played. Hey, give Kemp some credit – he almost made it to the start of the season. Maybe his life would have been better off had he learned to pull out early in other life situations.

Rams, Raiders & Gemma Plan for 2009

Luke Warm Pizza is TWWL’s morning headlines
(As TWWL mentioned last week Gemma Atkinson has a 2009 Calendar)

Rams Fire Linehan
After 36 games Scott Linehan was fired in St.Louis. Linehan went 11-25, including 0-4so far in 2008. Linehan was hired before the 2006 season.Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett was named interim coach.

The decision was made at around 2:30 a.m. this morning after a lengthy meeting involving owners Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, team president John Shaw, general manager Jay Zygmunt and others. (STL Today)

Side note: The Chiefs, who beat the Broncos 33-19 yesterday, have no plans to fire Herm Edwards who has a 14-22 record since 2006.

Lane Kiffin May Be, Will Soon Be, Is Fired
After a 2nd consecutive 4th quarter collapse it appears that Lane Kiffin has coached his final game as Radiers coach. Of course, only Al Davis knows for sure. Davis has not said anything yet. Attempts are being made to confirm that Davis is still alive.
(LA Times)

Mets Choke, Again
For the 2nd consecutive year the Mets blow a division lead in September and miss the playoffs.

The sun officially set on Shea Stadium yesterday after fans endured a torturous, rain-delayed, scoreboard-watching choke in the last-ever game at the old ballpark. (NY Post)

Losers Pool
The Chiefs decided to show up yesterday and TWWL, along with 101 others, is out of the pool.

But there is some good news..TWWL went 2-1 in Week 4 Picks.

Week 4 NFL Picks

Around The Interruption is TWWL’s afternoon update
(Catherine is lovely but TWWL needs the Chiefs to lose)

Loser’s Pool
TWWL is still alive in the Loser’s Pool. Thanks to the Giants for for scaring the crap out of me last week. We’re down to 262 people all after the $17,000 in the pot. This week I’m going with the Chiefs to lose to the Broncos. C’mon Jay Cutler get me a win in Arrowhead.

Home Dogs
Here’s 3 home underdogs in the NFL this Sunday.
Chiefs +9 Broncos – The Chiefs played the Pats to the end and everyone is convinced that means they are good. The same Pats that got blown out by the Dolphins last week.I’m going with Denver and laying the 9.

Raiders +7.5 Chargers San Diego is waking up. The Chargers D is not as great as you think but neither is the Raider Offense. Chargers -7.5

Bears +3 Eagles One home dog has to rise up, don’t they? Bears +3

Oh The Drama!

Luke Warm Pizza is TWWL’s morning headlines
(That is magnificent! Don’t hardwood floors just make a room beautiful? Speaking of hard wood (penis) Gemma Atkinson’s 2009 Calendar is out)

Oregon State 27 USC 21 Nice Beaver! This reaffirms TWWL’s belief that college football does not need a playoff system. Things should be decided based on opinion alone. After all why do teams need to actually play a game? Even a blind man can see that USC is clearly the better team. I realize that this is just a regular season game but are you telling me that if these 2 met is some sort of postseason tournament that USC wouldn’t dominate? Don’t be stupid.

Mets 7 Cubs 6 This time it’s the Amazins who come from behind and win it in their final at bat. The Mets face Florida for 3 beginning tonight @ Shea. One small problem..rain forecast for the east coast today and tomorrow.

Brewers 5 Pirates 1 – Ryan Braun’s grand slam in the 10th keeps the Milwaukees tied for the Wild Card.

Twins 7 WhiteSox 6 Minnesota trailed 6-1 then came back to sweep Chicago and take over 1st place in the AL Central by 1/2. Ozzie Guillen’s head explodes.

Thiago da Silva Murdered

Around The Interruption is TWWL’s afternoon update

(Gina Carano needs to stop complaining. I’d tell her myself but I’m afraid to get my ass kicked)

Fighter Complains About Fame
From Yahoo:
Gina Carano says that she is not the face of women’s MMA. She doesn’t want the label, she only wants to be known as a fighter. She definitely doesn’t want to be famous.

Gina is a fighter. That’s what she does for a living. Our private life is private. Gina and I want it that way. We want to be about to dine in a nice restaurant without being bothered.

Seriously, wake the eff up, Gina. You’re a hot chick in a sport that appeals to men. Quit complaining and just be thankful that you’re making a buck. But if there’s one thing that makes a woman less attractive it’s complaining. So keep it up and you’ll be ugly in no time.(Yahoo)

Thug News

Player’s Ex-Girlfriend Plotted Murder
Maybe we should listen to Gina Carano before she gets really mad.

Brazil is in mourning after former Vasco de Gama player Thiago da Silva was brutally tortured and murdered, allegedly by hired assassins on the orders of his ex-girlfriend.

Before he passed away, da Silva was able to tell the police that he had fallen into a trap last Thursday evening, shortly after discussing the end of his relationship with his girlfriend, Alyne Padula.

The former Vasco player was overwhelmed by three people (including a member of the military police), all of whom are friends of the girl’s aunt.

Her aunt? Aunt’s are supposed to send you $5 on your birthday and give you sweaters at Christmas. Generally they don’t help you plot the murder of your ex-boyfriend. Chicks are tough. (SI)

USC Recruit Should Go Straight To Bengals
Maurice Simmons was just sentenced to 4 years in prision for his part in a robbery. He had committed to play football at USC. Here’s the Cincinnati Bengals scouting report: This kid is a can’t miss prospect and should fit right in with the rest of our team. (LA Times)

The Catch Was Alright. But How’s His YAC??

TWWL Scouting Report:
Edwin Baptiste WR Morgan State
His 40 time is not that great. Hands are okay. Not a very good run blocker. And a very low Yards After Catch.
